(Long) Weekend Update

Jenny's enjoying her stay-cation - we stopped by the library Monday to pick up some holds and checked out a whole bunch of books and comics. We're also borrowing the complete DVD set of Daria, one of Jenny's favorite series, from our friend Josh. So she's got a few things to keep her entertained for a while. Otherwise she's just relaxing and working on crochet projects. She also sold a nice set of gloves (as seen to the left) she made for a co-worker this week.

Then yesterday we headed over to Coeur d'Alene for most of the day, to see Jenny's folks and catch up a bunch on the TV shows they record for us. The Fall season has started, and we've got a few new shows we're starting to follow, plus all the our regulars. Though as usually happens, one of the new ones we're really enjoying (The Playboy Club) has already been cancelled only 3 episodes in. Sigh...

This weekend was pretty fun too. One of Jenny's friends from work got married on Saturday, and she and her husband are really big geeks. They had a whole bunch of board games and card games for people to play at the reception, and even had the Star Wars Imperial march play at the wedding.

Saturday was also the annual 24 Hour Comic Book Challenge event. I knew we were going to be at the wedding months in advance, so didn't plan on actually attempting the challenge this time. But we still went over to the location after the reception was over for a few hours - I drew a little, and Jenny worked on her novel some, but we were mostly just there to hang out with our friends.

Photo Finish

Well, it's been a year, but I finally got the rest of the photos from our wedding scanned and uploaded to our Flickr account. I put them all in a "New Wedding Pictures" set, so they'd be easy to find, and they're here: New Wedding Pictures

These are the pictures taken by Tigger, Shane and Rita, and Jenny's parents. I know there's some more pictures out there that other people took, but that's what we've got so far. I'm in the planning stages of going through and scanning all of our photos (so they'll be archived in case of a fire or whatever) and putting a lot of them online. Besides just our normal pictures of people and things around town, Jenny has a whole bunch of cool photos from her trip to Spain and pics from our trip through Canada (lots of blurry animals).

I figure that with unlimited space available on Flickr, I might as well make the most of it. So, keep an eye out for more photos in the near future. I'd also like to start putting up pictures of our art (drawings and painting) as well as getting some good photos of the jewelry and lapidary work Jenny's been doing with her dad.

Jenny's sick right now, and has missed the last couple of days of work from it. Apparently it's a nasty sinus infection, and I'm afraid I might be getting whatever it is as well (big surprise). Fun. She seems to be getting better, so hopefully she'll be up and around soon.

Geeks In Love + Movies

Tuesday was Jenny and I's 1 year wedding anniversary. It's been a great year - unfortunately we didn't really do anything exciting on the day, since she worked pretty much all day and got home late. We cooked up some yummy Mexican food and watched some TV and that was about it...

However, today is the premiere of the Dark Knight! So we'll be hopefully going to see that tonight after she gets off work (assuming we can get tickets - may need to see the late show). From all reports, this one looks like it surpasses Batman Begins in awesomeness. :D

In addition, there's a good chance we'll be able to see (on the big screen) the trailer for what is probably the most anticipated comic-geek movie ever: Watchmen! The trailer was leaked online yesterday, so I've already watched it a few times... I still don't know if they'll be able to capture all of the subtle storytelling nuances of the comic, but at this point the trailer looks great and my hopes are raised.

Wedding Pictures

So, I've been planning to go through all of the wedding pictures we have, picking out the best, editing and cleaning them up, and then putting together a collection to give people who might be interested. However, the whole process was rather... daunting (more like overwhelming).

Sooo.... instead, I decided to separate out the pics somewhat and then throw all of them up online, where anyone who wants to see them can, and they can pick the ones (if any) that they want to keep. We still need to do a bunch of editing, sorting, tagging and describing to these pictures, but it's a start. And since we've got the space, we'll probably be uploading a bunch of other pictures as well (such as our vacation and other trips, that sort of thing). :)

Randomness

Been working on putting the apartment back together, specifically our studio space. It's beginning to actually look like... a studio! (amazing)

I haven't done much in the art department recently, but Jenny's picked up some canvases and is working on more water-life-series paintings. Hooray for unemployment!

I've now become hooked on Sudoku puzzles. Eh, so I'm a little late to the scene on that one...

Jenny's job hunting continues. She's only had one interview so far, and while it apparently went really well, she still hasn't heard back from them, which is unfortunately discouraging.

Finally took care of our thank you notes for the wedding. Just snuck in under that "send out within 2 months after the wedding" window...

Oh, and I'm well over the plague I had a little bit ago. Jenny and I both keep passing some little cold back and forth, but nothing major. Just normal sneezing and sniffles. Would be nice to be completely over it, though.

Checklist

Ok, dinner with Peter's family, check. Breakfast with my family, check. Peter's haircut, check. Moved everything we need to wedding sight, check. Rehersal, check. Dinner with wedding party, minus Jenni, check. Long talk with wedding party, minus Jenni, about learning to drive and other funny things and eventually leading back to see if anything needs to be added to the ceremony, and deciding everything is fine, check.

Tomorrow, still need to get my hair cut and styled with flowers in it. Then lunch with Jenni, then back to her parents house to make sure everything is set up and all food is there. Then get into dress (with help), and get makeup on. After Peter's dressed, we go outside and get pictures taken. Then back inside to cool off and wait for guests to all get in and sit. Then music starts and everything is as perfect as it can be. And then get married!

Hooray! :D

Friday The 13th!

Dishes! My maid of honor, Jenni, met me at the mall yesterday because she had to go there anyways for some errands and she was feeling feisty and wanted to go to Sears with me to talk to a manager about the dishes fiasco. She'd been stewing on the information ever since I told her, and she thought that Peter and I had been treated very unfairly and wanted to make it right. So, we walked up to a small group of employees and Jenni unceremoniously said that she had a complaint. The first guy said that we needed to talk to a manager, and that there was one sitting at one of the computer kiosks. Once he was in our sights, you wouldn't believe how fast the others left to find other things to do, far away from us. The guy was very helpful, and now there's 2 replacement boxes of dishes on the way to Jenni's house. Hopefully they'll survive the shipping, but the guy said that we could of course bring them in if they come in broken as the first ones did. He also said he was pretty sure he knew who the girl was who had been so unhelpful, and that she was going to get a talking to. Whatever, she's young and doesn't care, she'll either improve her attitude while with a customer, or she'll quit and get some other crappy job. But, the important thing is that I have new dishes coming! Hooray!

Lets see... We've been slowly picking up the last little things we need for the wedding and putting in the orders for the food and cupcakes. For some reason, carrot cake wasn't an option for cupcakes at Safeway, so I just went with half vanilla/ half chocolate. The tops will be sprayed with blue food coloring, and little red rose buds with little green leaves will be over the color. I really wanted blue jewelery for the wedding, but I just couldn't find what I wanted, so I went with silver and clear, sparkly glass or zirconium gems. So, I have my bling. ;)

Peter and I almost didn't get the wedding licence in time. We got it on the last day possible, because of the 3 day waiting period here. Nr. But we have it, no problem. But we're not the only last minuters. Our officiant and his wife told us that they also waited till the last minute to get theirs. And the couple who were also at the auditors office to get a marriage license when we were, they were very disappointed that they couldn't get married that same day.

I still need more coolers for the drinks. And some other stuff... Hmmm, looks like my brain just stalled. Overload. Been happening a lot recently.

Peter's parents and his oldest sister got in last night, and his brother and other sister and her husband (and all his camera equipment!) should be getting in from Seattle in a few hours. Once Peter gets off work, we'll head to some restaurant for dinner, then Peter and I will go over to the mall to get him a haircut. We had originally thought to do a dinner after the rehearsal, but that would have been around 20 people, and we weren't sure where to have dinner, so the Foglesongs suggested we do a dinner tonight with just Peter's side of the family.

I've talked to my Dad a couple times today, trying to coordinate where we're going to meet tomorrow to do the setup and to go together with Tigger to get the tables and chairs. He also wanted to know about the dinner Saturday night. He reminded me that my relatives from Portland were on their way now, but didn't know when the relatives from Montana would be getting here. So, I mentioned the dinner tonight, and I didn't know if we should have a double family thing, or just the Foglesongs, so I told him, maybe my side could do breakfast tomorrow, since the wedding party was hoping to head out after the rehearsal for dinner and drinks (except Jenni of course). But, I'll run everything past Peter, since he and his folks are the ones planning dinner, and my brain is fried.

Since we've got all sorts of relatives in town, we've been noticing that we haven't really been cleaning for the past, uh, month. So, I cleaned the bathroom this morning. Ugh, soap scum. I just need the towels to finish drying, then I'll hang them up and the bathroom will be beautiful again. I should probably vacuum too. Well, that's all for now, Peter can add stuff if he wants later.

Dishes?

So, went over to CDA on the 4th. I got into my dress and I thought I'd have to stand there for quite some time while Mom put pins in, but she only needed to measure how much she was going to hem it, then helped me out of the dress.

Sears over there was open, but it didn't do us any good, since it was a tiny store compared to the 2 over here, so they didn't carry dishes at all. Also, we wandered around that store looking at kitchen stuff and then at clothes, and not one of the many employees there asked us if we were looking for anything or needed help. Coupled with the apathy from the 2 girls in both Washington stores, it was not a good week for customer service. So, I got a pair of jean shorts, and then we left the Silver Lake Mall, since about 1/2 it's stores were closing, and none of the other stores were of interest to us. So, looks like we'll need to order the dishes ourselves from online, and hope they get here unbroken. Peter and I also dropped by Borders, as usual, and said hi to our friends there and checked out their shiny new cafe (SBC).

Dropped back by the folk's place and helped Dad move his new rocksaw and move a couple related things, and also checked out their new garage doors, very nice. Then Dad had Peter and I pick out our flight times and plane seats and payed for our tickets/used some of his miles. So, now we need to finish the last details of the wedding, get married, change my name, possibly go for a weekend camping trip with a couple friends of ours, then pack and head up to Alaska for a week. Whoo! Busy, busy, busy.

Update With Less Then 2 Weeks To Go

Last Saturday I had my wedding shower. Jenni threw it at her house, and her mom, my mom, sister and one of my aunts, and my friend Tigger all came. We all had a great time talking and opening presents and watching Jenni's son be funny. When I got home and started opening stuff completely, I found that the plates in both boxes of dishes where broken. :( One set of plates was practically powder, and only one was broken in the other set. One of the sets of bowls was fine (oddly enough the only one I opened at the shower), but the other one had a bowl with a crack almost all the way through it. I didn't even get down to the mugs in either set, so I don't know if they were broken too or not. Peter and I returned them to Sears yesterday, but they didn't have any more, so they called over to the North store, and they said they had two. So, we stopped to have Thai food for dinner (mmm!), then headed up to the other Sears, but when we got there, the girl had been mistaken, and they only had one. Maybe, she wasn't instilling confidence in me, so we decided to keep our gift card, and try the Sears in CDA. I was supposed to be doing that now (right meow), but home stuff and writing back and forth with friends through myspace has kept me from leaving, so I guess I'll head over there this evening or tomorrow.

I also got my wedding dress back yesterday, and though I do weigh more then I want to (Grrr!), and I am eating better and trying to exercise more, I still look great in it. But that's what wedding dresses do. When I head over to CDA, I need to get Mom to help me into the dress so she can hem it.

I also need to return Dad's wedding suit to him. I didn't even know my parents still had their wedding clothes till Dad offered his for Peter to wear. But though the pants fit fine (very 70's), the sleeves of the jacket were too short. Peter and I went to Value Village several days ago and found two suits that fit him and were good colors. I think one was $9.99, and the other $6.99. Bargins! Yay! Last night he found a good shirt to wear with the grayer one, and now just needs shoes.

This past weekend, Peter also rearanged the studio area (formerly living room), and took a bunch of boxes out to the garage (after sweeping it out). It looks really good, and we've got LOTS of room now. Everything was so cramped before, I'm surprised we didn't move stuff sooner. We also took the TV out of the bedroom and heaved it up onto a sturdy and wide bookcase by the computer. So now we can watch TV while working on art or playing on the computer. We'll have to get a VCR or something for the TV so we can watch movies too. Our bedroom still needs work, but we don't spend a lot of time in there. The bathroom could use some shelves. And the kitchen needs to be gutted and just redone completely, but that's never going to happen. We are going to get a stand alone pantry though, so we can put food in there and free up room to put our new pots and pans in a cupboard, instead of leaving them in their box where they do me no good.

So, back to wedding stuff, we still need to put in our orders for the food and get drinks and some champaigne and sparkling cider for toasts. We really need to buckle down and decide on our vows and how the ceremony is going to go. And there are other nit picky things, but those are the big two things left. So, ALMOST READY. AAAAAAAGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! It's so close! Ooo! Need to find out when to pick up the marriage certificate too! THAT, is important. Name changing papers too. :)

Quick Update

Not a whole lot going on, really - mainly just work-work-working with a little bit of wedding stuff on the side. We did go over to Tigger's place yesterday and hung out for a while and helped her with some of her landscaping projects. Also got to meet her new puppy, Geo, who's absolutely adorable. Held off on going into CdA this weekend, as Jenny's folks are out of town, visiting her Aunt's family in Portland. Jenny did finally get her dress in, and had her fitting today, so they can do the needed alterations.

Otherwise, just catching up on DVDs, and we got out to see Shrek 3 on Friday. I think it was actually funnier than the last one, which was kinda surprising. Fantastic Four 2 also came out this week, which we'll get around to seeing soon, even though all the reviewers seem to hate it (judging by the various article headlines I see online - but I haven't read the articles...). There's far too many summer blockbusters coming out this year to keep up with, so I fear we're going to be a couple of week's behind for quite a while.

In work news, the "new girl" has already left - Friday was her last day. And now Brian has 2 weeks remaining before he's gone as well, which will drop the main staff down to just Derek and myself. Originally, the boss had toyed with the idea of not hiring a new 3rd person, but luckily he changed his mind and put an ad in the paper. Hopefully we'll have a better pool of applicants this time around....

Oh yeah, and we finally got our garage. Only took them, what... 8 months? :)

On the Road Again....

Well, it's been a week since our last post... So, what's been going on?

The big news, of course, is that we replaced the recently deceased truck with a brand new, shiny blue F-J Cruiser! Jenny's mom had offered to "help us out" with a new car as a wedding present, using money she'd received as part of the inheritance when her father (Jenny's Grandfather) passed away. What we didn't know was that meant she was going to buy it for us outright - completely paying it off! That's right - our wedding (and birthdays and next few Christmas) present was a Brand New Car! You can say that last bit in a game show announcer voice to make it sound right. :)

We'd told her parents that we really didn't need any sort of bells and whistles, that the basic package would be more than enough. However, the local Toyota dealer didn't have any basic Cruisers, so we ended up with a whole bunch of extras that we really don't need (but are all supercool and we really are happy to have). Right now it's still in Jenny's mom's name - we'll be able to switch it over to us in the next couple of months.

Sooo.... we've been deleriously happy with our new car. :D Such simple luxuries as air conditioning and a working radio were previously unknown to us, so this just about blew us away. Now we've just got to keep it upkept so it'll last another 20 years like the truck.

We had hoped to sign our new lease and get on the list for a garage (assuming such a list exists) on Friday, but the trainee was at the office instead of the normal secretary. She told us to come back on Saturday and the regular girl could take care of it no problem, but we showed up on Saturday only to find that we needed to set up an appointment first, which of course the trainee failed to mention.... So we've got an appointment this Saturday at noon to sign our new lease - hopefully we'll make some progress towards a garage as well. We're both even more paranoid at night now that we've got our beautiful new vehicle to protect (might as well just paint a target on it...).

On the wedding front, we finally got our invitations/announcements out in the mail, atleast to the people we have addresses for. There are still a few people we don't have mailing addresses for, for whatever reason, and if you're one of those people and are reading this you know who you are and you know how to get a hold of me. :)

Also picked up my ring this week. Went with a super simple white gold band - since Jenny's is such a unique heirloom, we didn't want to try to find a suitable match at this time, just something I would like to wear that wasn't flashy. Figure that a ways down the road we can always have something custom made to match Jenny's and replace mine.

Work is still work. We hired a new girl, who put in her 2 week notice less than a week after starting. So we can't really expend much energy training her, since she'll be leaving soon, but we still have to find busy work for her to do in the meantime. I'm really surprised they didn't just let her go when she put in her notice. Eh, atleast she can clean and make copies - there's always more copies to make. Brian's leaving at the end of this month, leaving myself and Derek (who is very competent, but has still only been there for 3 or 4 months at this point), and now the boss is thinking of just not hiring a new person for the time being and see how things go. I'm not loving my job in the first place, so this is certainly not going to help the situation....

Oh, and June 1st was my (31st) birthday, so Happy Birthday to me! :)

Happy Monday!

And another week commences....

Jenny got a call today from the framing shop she'd applied at back before she quit Michaels, and has an interview set up for this Thursday. This was the job she was the most interested in, really, as it was a non-corporate framing position and she wouldn't have to deal with all the other unrelated retail mess that she had to put up with at Michaels.

My work continues to be OK. I've come to terms with the fact that I need to stick with this job atleast for the forseeable future (the next couple of months or so), as I've atleast got to stick it out until after the wedding, our vacation, and Jenny's back to being gainfully employed. It will be easy to take any time off that I'll need, and I'm certainly liking the paychecks....

Sunday was Mother's Day, and Jenny headed over to CdA to spend time with her mom and give her the present she bought - a cute apple tea pot. When they first moved into their house, her mom was torn between decorating the kitchen with apples or in a rooster motif. She ended up going with the apple scheme, but it proved a lot harder to find apple themed things then roosters. We see kitchen accessories and decorations with roosters on them everywhere now and very few apples, so her mom was (not surprisingly) quite pleased with her gift.

On the wedding front, while we did get our invitations in last week, they weren't exacty what we'd expected them to be and after some deliberating decided to reorder them from a different supplier. So, on the con side, we'll have to wait another week to send them out. But on the pro side, they'll be a little more interesting, hopefully look like what we wanted, and it'll give us some time to finish up our gift registries and we can include that information with the announcements. Jenny's going to get together with Jenni on Wednesday to work on registry stuff, among other things.

We did some looking around for a ring for me this weekend. The original plan was to find something inexpensive at an online store, but when we realized the cost wouldn't be too much different, we decided it would be better to buy something locally so I could try it on and get exactly what I want. Jenny ordered her shoes for the wedding, and they should be here about the same time as the new invitations.

Since we're going to be sticking around this apartment for a while longer (probably atleast a year), the plan now is to do some serious rearranging of the furniture to make things more comfortable. The TV, couch, gaming stuff, and all the bookcases are going into what is now the office, to make a sort of den/cozy entertainment room. We'll end up with a much more open atmosphere to the living room (which will turn into our studio space), and we'll be able to expand our kitchen/dining room space a bit. A lot of this process will mean purchasing some more/new furniture, but that's something we've needed to do for a while - like a pantry for the kitchen, and some more shelves for all of our ever growing library.

I've been using a very cool room planner tool I found online that's part of a furniture store's website. It lets you customize the rooms and furniture, save and print your designs, and sure beats constantly redrawing the same room over and over on paper. We did get out to see Spiderman 3 last week - I think the 2nd one was the better over all, but this one was definately a fun movie. I believe (as apparently many others do) that they tried to cram too much into it, and there was easily enough material to make two good movies from what they had. I'd say the bad guys, specifically Harry, were the real stars of this one. It's got a fair share of corny bits, and would probably be easier to watch on DVD (being excessively long), but is still well worth the price of admission just for the special effects and action sequences.

The TV season is winding down over the next week or two, so I suppose that'll free up some of our time when most of our shows go into reruns for a while. I'm thinking I'll do a finale wrap up post - maybe do a little mini-review of all the stuff we're currently watching.... as soon as I find the time. :)

I was planning on burning through all of the Harry Potter novels, so I'd be all caught up when the last one came out, but I kinda got slowed down and stalled out in the middle of the 4th book. I'm trying to get back into it and get finished so I can move on. From what Jenny says, of the series, it's the one to get stuck on - Rowling really tried to put too much in and it goes on forever. But once I get through it, the next two books are supposed to be back to being entertaining. Jenny just finished the 4th book, as well as the 4th book in the David Farland fantasy series ("The Runelords") she's simultaneously reading.

The Clock is Ticking....

Wow, I can't believe it's almost May already - it seems like the year is just flying by. Things have been piling up quicker and quicker, keeping us plenty busy:

Jenny and Jenni have been getting to work on the wedding stuff, invitations are now on their way (to us), and soon will be on their way back out. We've also been weighing our photography options and we're thinking of going the potluck route for the food, although we haven't decided if the main course(s) are going to be catered at all.

I'd mentioned that we'd registered at Macy's; well, we were finally able to log on to our account tonight, only to find that they only have 6 items listed - none of them items we actually picked! So now we have to go back and repick everything, talk about a waste of time. We did sign up for Macy's cards in the process, which I guess we can theoretically use to build up our credit a little. Oh, and we're definately going to go up to Fairbanks later this year to visit, even if we're still not sure where we'll be staying....

And speaking of living arrangements, we're now figuring on staying in this apartment for a while longer. We were orginally excited about getting out of apartment living and into a house, but the more we thought about it, the more we realized that with the wedding plans, and everything that entails (both before and after), plus our vacation plans and Jenny not working for a while, we'd be better off not trying to do a big move this year. We don't really have a specific area that we want to move to, and aren't too crazy with the prospect of packing everything up and moving again. However, if we do stay here, we're going to be really getting after the apartment people about fixing stuff and making this place a better place to live. We've already put in a couple more work orders to fix stuff, and are still after them about the garage.

I did finally get the apartment completely cleaned this weekend, which always helps my outlook on things (it certainly needed it...). And I've been going back to basics with my drawing, trying to do some basic gesture drawings and sketches in my sketchbook and filling up atleast a page a day - it's a slow process, but I think I'm (very) gradually getting my skills back.

As much as I'd love to quit my job so I could work on getting my art back up to speed again, it's really not an option now that Jenny quit hers. But she really needed to, what with her wonky schedule and the wedding date rapidly approaching. She's got so much done in just the past week - I joked today that she should have quit her job months ago, we would have had this whole thing planned down to every detail already.

And on the job front, I was surprised today to get my paycheck and find I got another raise! I'm thinking it might be because Brian's leaving in a couple of months and I'll be moving up to top man on the totem pole. Or it may be them realizing they better give me an incentive to stick around.... Whatever the reason, I'll take it!

Busy Week

Last Friday, after another exciting haircut with Jenni and her kids, no really, she had to put her son into a headlock so he wouldn't squirm so much when he was getting his hair cut. It was funny. But anyways, after that, Jenni and I picked up Peter and went to go look at a dress for me for the wedding, and to talk about other wedding stuff. Peter ended up on kid-watch while Jenni helped me into a couple dresses. Turns out I'm a 14 on top, and a 12 on the bottom. Yay... So, that means pretty much any dress is going to need alterations and hemming. Found one good one so far, it's $59, which is very affordable, but to alter and hem it will bring the total price to just under $200. That's doable, but I'd like to look for something that needs less work. Peter's going to buy a simple white gold band for now, and later we'll look into getting a jeweler to make a ring similar to mine. Jenni's blown my mind a little with how much we still have to get ready, but she said not to worry, we'll keep it simple and be ready in time.

I spent Saturday over at my parent's house, and my Aunt who lives nearby came over, since her and Dad's youngest brother and his family were coming over to pick up some old computers Dad revamped and was giving to my Uncle's family. So that was a nice little family gathering, although of my 4 cousins, the youngest REALLY needs Ritalin. He actually has a prescription, but he's got something wrong with his stomach, and sometimes he can't take any pills. Poor kid. I finally got to see the movie Eragon. Not as good as the book, but not as bad as I had thought it would be. Sunday was a day of shopping for various things. We dropped by Michaels and picked up 3 frames for the artwork we picked up at the comic con. Then went to Fred Meyers and picked up some nice shirts for Peter to replace some of his other shirts that had worn out and had to be tossed. Then we went to Safeway to pick up a bunch of food, as we were running out of normal things, milk, bread, soup, the usual.

Monday and Tuesday I spent with Jenni, hanging out and doing more wedding stuff. Made some calls, got some prices on photographers and set up an appointment with a florist. Yesterday, I cleaned the bathroom, because it needed it. I cleaned up the living room somewhat today, and put the art we got into the frames we had bought days previous. Then I went over to the apartment office to write up a work order, since part of the counter decided to not be attached anymore, for no apparent reason last night. I also added that the oven seems to be getting worse at keeping a temperature. Personally, I hope, whatever the problem, that the entire thing will need to be replaced, because it's old and sucks. The counter too. It also sucks. The people before us, decided to paint the countertops. But they didn't do a very good job.

Let's see, what else... I looked up a couple jobs on-line, but haven't written any cover letters yet, so haven't applied to anything yet. Soon. Oh, also, I finished reading Harry Potter 3, and book 2 in the Runelords series. Now I'm several chapters into book 3 of the Runelords series, and in the middle of Chapter 1 of Harry Potter 4. I alternate between the two books. Hmmm, can't think of anything else. But, boy, I've been busy!

Moving Forward Redux

Well, Thursday was Jenny's last day at Michaels, and she is quite thrilled not to have to go back there again (although we did go by there today to pick up some readymade frames for the prints we picked up at the Con). Unfortunately, that same day she also found out she didn't get the law firm job she'd applied for. They said it was a really hard decision, but one way or another she didn't get picked, so it's back to looking for a new (better) job. There is still the framing job she's waiting to hear about, but that may be a month or two still.

We went out on Friday with (Jenny's best friend) Jenni and worked on wedding related stuff: Jenny tried on dresses, and found one possibility (but is still looking); we registered at Macy's, and our list will be available online as soon as we're able to log in and update/confirm everything - we're also planning on registering at Fred Meyers as well, just to cover all our bases as far as selection; Jenni also picked our brains about other wedding stuff - rings, what I'm wearing, invitations, etc. and made suggestions and offered advice (she's married and is very excited for us and really wants to help out). Once Jenni gets back from her trip in a week or so, her and Jenny will get together and take care of invitations/announcements.

I haven't picked out a specific ring yet, but I'm fairly certain I'm going with a basic white gold band, atleast for now. We've done some looking for a band similar to Jenny's and haven't found anything, and getting a custom one made at this point is looking like too much time and money. So we're thinking I should stick with something really simple (I wanted something simple and functional anyway, since I'll be wearing this every day :) ), and later, a ways down the line, we could still get a custom one made exactly to our specifications to match Jenny's. The day is fast approaching, and we're going to have to play a lot of catch up, but we're planning on keeping everything really simple and we should still be able to get everything the way we want it (with a little help from some friends and family).

Otherwise.... my work is going OK, but I'd really like to find something else that I'm atleast remotely interested in (that has benefits, and is preferably not even remotely retail). Brian is leaving at the end of June, and we're apparently not having much luck finding a prospective replacement for him. And if I were to leave soon, I think it would seriously leave them in a tough spot, since Derek's only been there a month or two at this point. But I was really hoping that Jenny would get that job, so I could quit mine, sooner as opposed to later, and have the time and opportunity to look for something else. It'll happen soon enough, I suppose....
