Charity Sketch Card Event

I just wanted to bring attention to an awesome charity event that is gearing up for it's 2nd annual installment. It's an auction of sketch cards, with all proceeds going to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The event is open to any artists, professional and amateur. Last year's featured a lot of great creators and raised a lot of money, and hopefully this year will bring in even more (of both).

Anyone who's interested in contributing should contact Jeremy Bell by email and express your interest: jeremyb (at) comics2games (dot) com

They've just recently announced this, and the auction isn't until next spring, so there's still lots of time to get involved.

Below is the a little more info from the organizers:

Fellow Creators,

In the time it takes you to do a few quick sketches, you can do a world of good! Blue Line Art is organizing our second annual exhibition and auction of original sketch card art to benefit the American Cancer Society. Our first event in March of 2008 raised over $7,000 and the next will be bigger and better! We are asking participating artists to donate 2 to 4 sketch cards. We provide the blank cards, you draw what you like and return them.

There will be a public exhibition at Comics 2 Games, 166 Mt. Zion Road in Florence, Kentucky on April 4th 2009. The auction of all the original art cards will go online starting the week before the Sketch Card exhibition and will end that evening. All proceeds from the sale of the cards will go to the American Cancer Society.

Bob and Mike Hickey, founders and owners of Blue Line Art, are organizing this fundraiser in honor of Bob’s wife Katie, a breast cancer survivor. Blue Line publishes Sketch Magazine and Graphic Novel Scene and sells Blue Line Art boards to both comic book companies and individual artists. The Hickey family has long been aware of the generosity of the comic book community. All involved are looking forward to another successful event that celebrates the diversity of comic book artists’ unique talents and their heroic spirit of helping those in need.

Thanks for your consideration and generosity,

The Staff of Blue Line Art & Comics 2 Games
