Updating

It definately seemed like Spring today - it was in the 60s, the sun was shining, and I opened up some windows to let the fresh air in. Felt great. We've been getting back to taking regular walks in the evening (easing back into some much needed exercise), and the nice weather is a great incentive.

Job hunting continues. Another spot opened up at the library which I applied for, as well as some other jobs I found online. Guess we'll see how that goes.

Other than lacking in money, things are going alright, I guess. Besides job hunting, mostly just trying to work on art inbetween keeping the apartment clean. Can't really complain, considering the state of the economy and how hard it's hit some people.

Oh, and our new neighbors seem OK so far. They're an older couple with a teenage daughter, and they seem fairly normal. Hopefully normal = quiet.

Happy Halloween & Apartment Stuff

We'll be heading over to Tigger and Lincoln's place tonight. We haven't got a chance to hang out for quite a while, and it also means we'll be out of the apartment and won't have to deal with any Trick-or-Treaters that might come by (since we didn't bother buying any candy this year). Should be fun - we'll probably just sit a round and watch some scary movies. Can't stay out tooo long, since Jenny has to work in the morning.

The apartment people are finally cleaning out the unit next door  - it's been vacant over a month, since the neighbors have been evicted. They really trashed the place, and apparently left a lot of stuff behind, like beds and other furniture. Guess they had to make room, since they took the washer and dryer when they went. Yep, they stole the washer and dryer that came with the apartment (and was brand new when we moved in 3 years ago). Wow. Just when I think people can't amaze me any more....

The prospect of them possibly replacing most of our appliances is definately appealing, and certainly makes the thought of staying here more bearable. But with our current lack of money, it's more and more likely, so we might as well try to make the most of it. Atleast we have somewhere to live. I'm seeing on the local news about how some folks can't get into homes right now, with the current economic crunch, and are actually staying in Motels long term, since it's cheaper than most apartments and they don't require the whole first/last/deposit + credit check thing to move in. Yeesh.

Happily Unemployed....

Well, yesterday was my last day at work. I'm in the process of looking for something new, but it'll be nice to have a few days off before I start into whatever I end up getting. The new girl (my replacement) started on Monday, and was working out fine until yesterday, when she left for lunch and didn't come back. Once we realized she hadn't returned, we thought maybe she had just up and quit, and were trying to figure out what we might have done to make her walk out...

Then, an hour or two later, her boyfriend called and informed us she had been in a car accident and was in the hospital! Thankfully she was (relatively) OK. She called at the end of the day to let us know she had been released, but was really banged up and didn't know when she'd be able to return to work. Guess they'll have to start looking for a new-new person.

Jenny's loving her job - hopefully they'll promote her or give her a raise or something soon. :)

We've got new neighbors again. They were moving in this morning, although we haven't met anybody yet, just saw them out the window when they were unloading furniture. Well, so far we haven't heard any shouting or booming rap music through the walls, so that's a good sign, I suppose.

Other than job hunting, not a lot else going on - Just drawing a little, and trying to get back into miniature painting again. Jenny's been spending a lot of time playing a new computer game and reading (I guess being surrounded by books all day will do that). Still haven't filed our taxes, so I guess that and a new job are top priority right now....

Update - Been a While...

Hmm.... apparently I haven't blogged yet this month. Time flies when, well, we haven't really been doing much actually. Just working for the most part. Jenny's job is great. even if it's only (very) part-time. I've started taking a different bus up to her job some nights, so I can meet her when she gets off work. It's a lot more convenient - I don't have to rush to catch the bus after work, and I don't have to switch lines three times. And the ride's shorter too. The library she works at is little, and really cute, and it seems like all the people she works with are really nice. I hope she can get some more hours there and maybe move up the ladder a bit. Seems like a keeper of a job.

We haven't got a good chance to really look around the area where the library is; but what we've seen of it and the surrounding neighborhoods seems really promising. If she sticks with this job, we might try to find a place up there (on the South Hill). We did do some looking through the classifieds this week to see what the range of prices are for the area. We haven't gone and looked at any places yet, but we really can't move until June anyway...

Our new-ish neighbors are definately gone now (hooray?). Seems they didn't even tell the management they were leaving either - they might have been here a month and then just up and left on the 1st. So no pounding bass (or anything else) on that side of the apartment, which is a nice change. Now if we could just get rid of the neighbors below us who are always slamming their door hard enough to make the building shake. Also, since we've rearranged the apartment, our "living room" is now above their master bedroom, so we try to be considerate and not be too noisy (no watching TV loud up late, that sort of thing). It'd sure be nice if they would return the favor.

I took Monday and Tuesday off from work - I just needed some down time to relax and also so Jenny and I could actually spend some time hanging out together. We went out to see the new monster movie Cloverfield on Monday. It was... good, however it was shot in a "real world" handi-cam style, from the perspective of the people trying to escape New York while a giant Godzilla type monster is destroying the city. So between the shaky camera, the heat in the theatre being turned up way too high and possibly being still a bit sick, both Jenny and I were actually nauseous by the time the film was over. I'm glad it was a short movie, because I don't think I could have taken much more. I think I'd like to see it again, but not until it's out on DVD and I can pause it whenever I want.

Started deep-cleaning the apartment on Tuesday night, and it's about half done right now. My hope/plan is to have the whole apartment thoroughly cleaned by the end of the week so I can have the weekend free to work on other stuff: art, catching up on TV, various work I need to do on the computer, maybe even break out my miniatures and do some painting.

Jenny's sister's birthday is tomorrow, and I think the plan is for Jenny to go over tomorrow for cake and presents. I'll probably stay home - I'm not really sure when she's even heading over. And then she's got another jewelry making class on Saturday and Sunday, although she'll have to skip out early on Saturday since she's got to work that afternoon. Should be fun!

So yeah, not a whole lot going on, but still more than enough to keep us busy. Hope everyone else out there is doing well, and maybe the next blog post won't be such a long time coming....

Talkin' and Pottin'

If I were a nurse, I could have my pick of jobs. Unfortunately, I have no interest what so ever in nursing, or anything really that has to do with a hospital. I haven't even seen recently the jobs I'm qualified for, but they're located over an hour drive away from home. This sucks.

I did just have a nice chat with the new neighbors about all sorts of things. That was cool. They're just a little younger then us, and just up from Southern California. Although, with two little kids, a hyperactive pug and surround sound, they've been pretty noisy. But the woman (Amy?) said that she's going to keep her husband from turning up the tv too loud and she's going to not yell at the kids so loudly too. So, uh, good, good. She didn't even know we lived here because we're so quiet. (An opinion not shared by our downstairs neighbor, but whatever, that woman constantly yelled at her kids and slams the stupid doors ALL THE TIME.) Yeah, so anyways, I had a nice talk today.

I also repotted my new "aluminum" plant (swear that's what it's called) today. It was rootbound, so I think it'll be happy now. I used the pot it came in to attempt to pot one of the 9 baby spider plants that are hanging next to the window off the plant stand. It didn't seem to want to stay in there, but what does it know. I still need 8 more pots for those babies, not to mention the "Mother of Thousands" I could plant if I only had the space. Also, I was adding extra dirt to those who looked like they needed it, and I noticed (finally) that my rubber tree plant has a root the size of my pinky trying to escape the dirt. I'm surprised it hasn't broken out of the clay pot and taken over the pots next to it! So it needs to be repotted asap. When I got it, it grew a new leaf at least once a week, so I had to repot it very quickly, but then it just stopped. It's alive, but it hasn't grown at all in just over a year. Well, now I know why.

I should also get a stick and twist tye or whatever since the stupid cayenne pepper plant is growing away from the pot and I had to prop it up with the rubber tree plant. And my wandering juniper has taken over the entire plant stand. I accidently found out that if the vines rest in water, even if it's only periodically wet, that roots will grow. So, I'm thinking of putting the longer vines, one at a time, in water till it's got good roots, then clip it off and plant it in it's own pot. Eventually, I'll be able to move the first pot to a new location (say a house), without taking the whole plant stand with it. Yay! I could give the newly planted pieces to other people too, then I would have more space for more plants. Yay! ;)

More Eye Witness News...

Ok. So, as I was writing the last sentence of the previous post, the neighbor knocked and asked me to go with him and his roommate to talk to the police at the 7-11. So I followed them over and we gave our statements to one of the officers/deputies. After a while they had us go outside and they brought the skinny white boy out. He was a tiny bit roughed up because he had ran and was chased down and tackled by the cop who took our statements. Who was very nice, and funny, by the way. He was wearing the same outfit, or at least the same long, dark shirt I saw, but his face didn't really look familiar, and I said as much.

So then they had the owner of the car, who hadn't seen anything, see if the car would start (which it did), and go ahead and drive it home. Then had the roommate and I go over to the accident scene where another car was wrecked to see if we could identify the car.

When the skinny dude was leaving in the car, and going past the stop sign without stoping, both the roommate and I saw a long skinny tan-ish car leaving behind the stolen car. We didn't know if it had anything to do with the stolen car, but since it left at the same time, and there were 2 cars involved, we figured it must be the same. According to the cop, the 2 cars were at the 7-11 near our house getting gas and waiting for the train to pass. Presumably so they could get onto the Interstate and get far from the scene of the crime. Once the train passed a bunch of cops converged on the gas station and the skinny dude ran from the stolen car. The other car tried to sneak out the back of the gas station and the chase was on. It's been raining for days now, and the guy couldn't make it around a tight curve. He hit a power line pole with the passenger side of the car (not neighbor's car), and sheered the pole off, then ended up 20 or so feet from the road. Because of downed power lines, the roommate and I had to take I-90 up to the next exit and come back down the road the accident happened on from the East.

So we get there and re-explain what we saw and heard, then look at the car. Not the same one we saw. It's maroon in color, and not long enough in the front. So, I don't know how that car fits into it, and I don't know if the car we saw had anything to do with the heist, but we could only tell the cops what we know. So the police thanked us and said we could go. As we were leaving, a guy from channel 2 (KREM) wanted to know if we knew what was going on and if we'd enlighten him. The roommate didn't feel comfortable talking to him, plus I saw almost the whole thing, so I agreed to talk to him on camera. So after I said what I saw for the 5th or so time for the evening, the guy asked for my name, which I kinda gave reluctantly, but luckily I have 2 of the most common names in America, so I didn't feel too weird. Then the roommate drove back to the 7-11 and dropped me off at my truck, and then we each drove home.

I wonder if I'll be on TV... At least my hair is brushed and I was wearing normal clothes and not in my pajamas. :) Wouldn't THAT have been cute. Well the car jacking happened at Midnight, and it's now quarter after 2AM, so I better get to bed. 'Night.

Eye Witness To A Crime

So, Peter and I had just gone to bed, and said goodnight when there was a loud noise outside. It sounded to me like either a garage door slamming down, or a large amount of glass and metal trash being thrown into the dumpster. The dumpster is down at the end of the building. It's got to be a good 100 feet or so away from our window, and the noise we heard was much closer. Peter opened the window, and I looked through the blinds, but we didn't see anything moving, and didn't hear anything else. So, we lay back down, but I kept hearing metal banging noises, and it just seemed weird to me. I peeked out the window again and saw a young white boy in baggy dark clothes walking around the front of the car, and a young skinny white girl in the front passenger seat, with a large white hand and arm around her from someone in the back. I don't really know my neighbor that well, but he and his friends fit the description of the people in his car, so I just lay back down. Then got up again, because they just seemed too weird. Usually the neighbors are loud and rowdy, not "sneaky." So I opened the blinds completely and watched as the guy who had been outside was now in the front passenger side seat, with no one in the drivers seat, and I couldn't see the other people. The guy was sort of sawing at the steering column with a shiny pole thing. I told Peter that maybe he was trying to remove a Club or something. Then a car pulled into the main entrance to the complex, but turned to go the other way. The guy quickly pulled the passenger side door closed and sat back as far as he could to hide from the driver if they had looked that way. I looked away for a moment to ask Peter what he thought they were doing, and the guy got into the driver's seat and started the car. Peter said that maybe they were high and paranoid or something. Then the guy backed up and I thought maybe he was going to hit the storage garages, but he stopped, got the car turned around and drove off. He didn't stop at the stop sign, but around here that's not a big surprise.
I lay back down and wondered what the hell was going on, and just glad it had nothing to do with my truck. Then I heard the neighbor's door open, and them walking down the steps talking. Then I heard one of them say, "My car just got stolen!" So, I jumped back up again, and opened the window as he was saying, "I'm not sure when." So I said, "Not 2 minutes ago, I watched him, I thought it was you guys just screwing around." I described basically what I just wrote above to them, but one was on the phone, talking to the police, so they got the basics and wandered off. I came in here to the office to blog, when they knocked on the door to have me tell them what happened again. I grabbed my robe and sandles and followed them down to the parking lot, and told them what I saw again. The one guy's phone rang, and the police had found his vehical already in the 7-11 parking lot. They said not to go there, that they were going to watch it to see if anyone came back for it. The neighbor downstairs from Peter and I came out to see what the hubbub was all about, and after telling her that other neighbor's car got stolen and I saw it, she went over to her car to make sure it was ok, then went back inside. I didn't check my truck over, but it looked ok too. The guy who owns the car had been asleep, his roomate had heard the first loud noise and saw nothing too, but hadn't looked again until the car was driving away, then he woke the other guy up. So I told them to just knock if the police wanted a statement.

First Post from the New Place

We are back on-line. Hurrah! Verizon doesn't service the Valley. Comcast might, or it might not, they're not sure. Vonage does, but we need a DSL line first. So, we ended up going with Qwest anyway. They offered the cheapest DSL (thanks to an online special they were running), and if we do want to get wireless phones down the line, we'll have everything on one bill, for convenience sake.

We've been moved into the new place since the 8th, and so far, except for a couple of glitches, everything has been fairly smooth.

So, let me now give you the grand tour of our tiny abode....

Bathroom:

The most "finished" room in the house, so to speak; we're decorating in Blue & Penguins. The rest of the room is through the door you can see in the mirror, but I figured no one really wanted to see the toilet and shower...

Bedroom:

Still a lot of unpacking to do in here. Lots of boxes of clothes that need to find homes; and, of course, lots of comic boxes. We're in the process of reorganizing our comics - we want to replace a lot of our collection with trade paperbacks and put the rest of the issues in shortboxes. Those long boxes are a pain to move (and are starting to fall apart from the stress).

Dining Room:

The "dining room" area is going to be our "painting" area, with all of Jenny's art stuff and all our gaming stuff. We still don't have a table so we don't really have a good gaming surface. It's still on "the list", though. We'll probably get some sort of large folding table we can stash out of the way when not in use.

Kitchen:

The kitchen, in all it's grandeur. Unfortuneately we don't have as much storage/cupboard space here as the old apartment, but we never used all the space we had at the old place anyway. It's a kitchen, and atleast it's clean. I'm not a fan of that tile, though...

Living Room:

We have an air conditioner! And just in time for winter, so we don't reall need it. We haven't even tried it out it, but I'm not worried about it, since here we've got reliable on-site maintenance people who actually fix things (and don't drag their kids around with them and aren't falling down drunk). The patio door there goes out to the deck. It's smallish, but nice.

The space where we have Jenny's paintings and canvas and stuff stacked up is unfortunately right where the heat ducts are. The plan is to build some sort of simple free standing rack system to hold large canvas and such that we can place theres o they won't be leaning up against the heater. Otherwise, the living room will be cold this winter...

We also have a fireplace! The walls are still a bit bare in here, and the boxes all over the floor are filled with CDs and CD binders that don't have a place to live yet. We'll probably need another book case at this rate. The "entertainment center" there is courtesy of Borders and is very cool. It's all metal, has no screws, etc. and is super-sturdy. I wish all furniture was like this. Plus, it was free!

Office:

Again we took the larger bedroom and turned it into the 'office" - basically my studio + Jenny's computer + lots of books. We still wanted to try to turn it into the "entertainment room", but we couldn't fit the couch in here either. We might be getting a real bed from Tigger, and if that happens we'll make the futon into the new couch and move it in here (since we know it will fit).

Anyway, this is my bit of the office - I really need a new drawing table; I've had this one since I was in High School.

Jenny's computer desk and stuff are on the opposite wall. And still more boxes of stuff...

Here's the office from the opposite angle, showing our slowly growing DVD collection, more books and -- a Washer & Dryer! The dryer didn't work when we moved in, but our trusty maintenance guys came in and worked their magic, and now we can wash clothes with impunity

More books, more boxes, and lots of games. The door you can see is our fairly large closet that connects to the bathroom. This is supposed to be the Master Bedroom, after all.

Not pictured is the indoor pool, hot tub, exercise room, lounge and tennis court. All in all, this place is pretty nice. Our neighbors are noisy on the weekends - loud friends who they go partying with; lots of shouting and slamming doors. Atleast they keep it to the weekend. They also have a yippie dog, but we usually can't hear it. The only really annoying thing is the loud, pounding bass of their rap music. And their apartment (the end unit) was supposed to be ours, but it wasn't ready yet, and we were in a hurry to get into a place. Just a bit ironic...

On the work-front, I'm still looking, but haven't found anything spectacular yet. But I need to find something sooner, as opposed to later; our money situation is fine right now, but I need to be bringing in a paycheck and saving money again.

Jenny's job at Budget Blinds has been really great, but it may not be lasting. The one she's at is switching from a corporate branch to a franchise store, and the manager/soon-to-be-owner needs an accountant/book keeper. And when he hires said accountant, there's a good chance it will be at the cost of Jenny's position. She'll find out for sure soon, but she might be laid off on December 1st when they switch over.

But she's got a lot of office experience and it'll be a really good reference for her, and I have no doubt she'll be able to find a similar job much closer to home, so she won't have to commute across the state line to Post Falls every day. With the price of gas the way it is, the cost of the drive to work and back is insane, especially in her truck.

On a lighter note, we went to see Doom with Josh, and it was far better than I was expecting! I've never been a big fan of the game, but the movie was actually a fairly decent sci-fi action flick. Very entertaining, and I even jumped a couple of times. The Rock is getting better, and Karl Urban (who was more of the main hero than The Rock), has the potential to become a decent action hero.

We found that the nearby theatre has "retro-movie" nights every Thursday, where they show older movies. Last week we saw The Princess Bride on the big screen, and last night they had a special Halloween night showing of Aliens. Awesome. This coming Thursday it's going to be Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Tigger and Lincoln are going to join us. Should be fun - I see a Denny's in our future for after the show...

Star Wars Episode VI came out today, and I really want to run out and rent it, but it can wait -- we've got lots of TV to watch tonight! New episodes of House and Bones are both on tonight, and we've got last night's new episode of Prisonbreak that we taped as well. We're really turning into network TV junkies, but there's actually good (or atleast entertaining) shows on this season! Besides those three, there's Medium, Threshold, all of the various CSIs and Law & Order: SVU (which I have yet to catch a new episode of yet). It seems that Scrubs has dissappeared, but we've still got Arrested Development, as well as My Name is Earl, American Dad, Family Guy and King of the Hill (in it's last season, I believe) Heck, even Simpsons is getting better again. What is happening to us...?

I guess that's enough rambling for now. We now return you to your regularly scheduled internet.

Movin' On Up

Well, we've been in our new apartment for a week now. Everything's going pretty good so far, although we have less storage space in the new place, so it's been a big game of Tetris moving some of our stuff around. And we got our new neighbors (who are in the spot that we were supposed to have) and, of course, they have loud obnoxious friends and listen to pounding rap music. Yay. Getting off to a great start there.....

We don't have our phone or internet up yet, so we'll be offline for a while. Hopefully when we get back online we'll have more interesting things to talk about then a stupid landlord and crazy neighbors.

Irony Is...

We finally get the green light on our new apartment, and now our drunk-ass neighbors are moving out before us. They're loading up the U-Haul as I type. Yay? (too little, too late)

Tuesday, September 20, 2005

Tonight, on COPS: Coeur d'Alene....

Ugh.

Just as we were thinking about trying to get to bed early, we start hearing shouting from downstairs. "Yay" we think, more drunken stupidity to keep us up all night.

Not drunk tonight, just stupid.

Then, there's a knock on the door; it's one of our new neighbors from all the way downstairs - she's in tears and want's to use our phone to call the police.... It was her boyfriend that we heard outside, and apparently he's not drunk, he's just loud, unstable, just a smidge bit violent, and threatening to kill himself and possibly her. Yeah. "Yay for us."

We're good people, however, so we let her in to call 911, listen to her tell the dispatcher all of her problems, and eventually the police come and talk to her and walk her downstairs. They haven't been back (thank God), so now Jenny is attempting to sleep (with the big-ass fan on to muffle any noise) while I stayed up on the odd chance someone came back. I'm thinking it's time for bed soon....

Reason #4,168 why we need to get the hell out of this apartment.

Another Day Off

Another day off, with relative acccomplishment....

Sean dropped me off in town, theoretically so I could go job-hunting, but that wasn't really successful. I wandered around for a while, went down to the park, filled out one application and turned it in (Barnes & Noble).

After Jenny got off work, we did go look at another apartment, this one off of Pines, which looked really nice. Lot's of potential there. I'm taking next Saturday off so we can run around and look at more places and turn in applications to places we've already seen.

And on the "we need to move" front: There was a knock on the door last night around 8pm, and it turned out to be Damien, the kid down stairs (from the loud apartment with the drunk husband). He's got a cast on his leg (which would explain the wheelchair that keeps showing up downstairs), and wants to know if he can use our phone. We ask him why, and he says he needs to call his parole officer! He's like 14 or 15 tops! Yeah, we definately need to move.

Jennie (Jenny's best friend; I'll spell them differently to differentiate) did have her baby today! Eric's mom called and left us a message, and Jenny called back and talked to Eric's sister (Eric is Jennie's husband, BTW). Apparently mother and son are doing just fine, although she did have to have a caesarean. Jenny hopes to be able to talk to Jennie soon, but Jennie will probably be in the hospital for a few more days, recuperating.

Will I Never Sleep Again?

First of all, it's not all our neighbor's fault. If Peter and I had got to bed at a decent hour last night... But that really hasn't been happening of late. So we got to sleep around 3AM or so last night. I woke up from a nightmare around 6AM. The pipes started making noise, but I thought I'd be able to sleep through that. Then a minute later, the kid downstairs decides to start playing his videogame, loudly. The music from the game sounds like an erratic heartbeat, and the base is vibrating up through the bed, again. So I toss and turn for a few minutes, then get up to go to the bathroom. Me in the mirror looks squinty and upset. So when I go back into the bedroom, the music finally wakes up Peter, and I say that I can't sleep (in a rather whiny voice). Peter is nice enough to go downstairs and tell the kid to turn the music down. He does, but it still takes a few hours to get back to sleep. Then I dream I'm trying to drive down some road, and there's two guys on little clown cars weaving in and out of trafic cutting each other off. We come to a stoplight, and the one who managed to get in front before they stoped, turns around and starts an argument with the guy behind him. I can't remember what they say, but then I end up getting involved. I try to be nice at first, but the guy is looking for a fight and I end up telling him he needs therapy or something, and then that he's causing a traffic jam and to get out of my f'ing way. Around 11AM, I wake up again and never really get back to sleep. Peter gets up around Noon. Then the phone rings a little after that (debt consolodation advertisment, grrr), so I figure, I may as well get up. I start this bitch session and the phone rings again, but no one leaves a message. Now it's 1:30 and we need to get moving, and I'm still tired and bitchy, plus I have to open the next 3 days at work. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. -Jenny

The Weekend's Over; Our's is About to Begin...

So, since Monday is our Friday (usually, Jenny sometimes gets odd days off, but I always have Tuesday and Wednesday's off), our weekend is finally almost here. This week has seemed to go on forever....

Work has been getting busier and busier, plus we've been preparing ourselves for the release of the new Harry Potter book on Friday night. Both Borders and Hastings are having midnight release parties for the book and have been taking pre-orders for the last few months. We're now getting the wave of people who are starting to see the coverage on TV and either think the book is already out, or want to reserve a copy and are upset when I tell them I'll have to put them on a waitlist, since all of our initial orders have been spoken for. Well, luckily neither Jenny nor I have to work the party that night (she's opening and I work until 9, when the party starts). Still, I'm sure it'll be a big mess, and I get to be one of the openers the next morning!

With the weekend being so hectic, we've really not had much time to work on art or relax much, but we've been slowly rearranging the apartment some. We were planning on moving the couch, TV and bookcases into the larger bedroom and making it sort of a den/TV room. Then we discovered that the couch won't fit through the door....

So, we came up with plan B. Jenny's painting stuff is staying in there and we're moving all of the gaming stuff in as well (we still need to find a table though, I hate playing on the floor). My art stuff and the computer desk move into the dining/living room area and all of the comic boxes will finally leave the living room floor and go back in our bedroom. We've been here a year, and we're finally getting somewhat organized.

And on the home-front, there's still been some annoying yelling from neighbor kids; but no drunken singing, door slamming or late night radio blasting for a couple of days. Small victories, I suppose. Tomorrow I'll try to get the bathroom cleaned and hopefully we'll go thrift-store shopping for a table. Wednesday will be driving to Spokane for new comics (plus last week's) and maybe a movie or something. This Friday is our two year anniversary, and we'll both be at work, so we want to do something special before then to mark the occasion.

Now that Jenny's signed up for her own Blogger account, she's also set up a seperate blog for her art, you can check it out at http://jynesartstuff.blogspot.com.

Making amends

Well, well, well. Mr. Drunk and Disorderly just ran our doorbell, but it was to apologize! He admitted that he has a drinking problem, and he said that it won't happen again. I don't know if he's going to a program or what, but he seems so much more stable without the booze in him. I thanked him for his apology. He could hardly look me in the eye, but he did when he apologized, so that's good. So we'll see what happens with him and his wife and the landlord. He said he damaged the laundry room wall, so he'll have to pay for that. Peter and I always go to my parent's house to do laundry, so I hadn't seen the damage. As long as it's quiet around here at night, I'll be happy.

Like Clockwork

Mr. Drunk'n'Stupid is back. 9:00, right on the dot. Let's see how long it takes for the police to haul him away this time....

Updates will probably follow.

9:05 -- Oh, joy. He's started singing....

9:10 -- Wow, I really wish I had a pocket tape recorder right now. Or atleast a mic I could plug into the stereo....

10:00 -- Well, the cops finally showed up... only took them an hour. I guess it's a good thing he wasn't actually dangerous.

Drunk People are Funny....

We're wide awake now, thanks to our downstairs neighbor's drunk idiot estranged husband.

I'm a deep sleeper; it takes a lot to rouse me from a sound sleep -- like some one ringing a doorbell for 2 minutes straight and kicking the door and yelling at the top of their lungs. All he wanted was his clothes and his beer. Oh, and not to have to sleep on the laundry room floor again.

He's finally gone. It took 4 cops 20 minutes to convince him to leave and lead him away. I'm sure he'll be back, eventually. I don't know why they couldn't have arrested him for public drunkeness. I think the fact that he was drunk was fairly obvious....

I don't know if this will lead to our landlord kicking out her "favorite" tenants. So far she's made a point that having the police called is all the reason she needs to evict someone. This is the third time the police have been called in the year we've lived here; it seems like such a nice neighborhood, too.

Oh, well -- atleast we don't have to get up early tomorrow. Hopefully we'll be able to get back to sleep, and he found a nice quiet alley to pass out in.
